Critical Reflections on the 80th Anniversary of the End of World War II

As we approached the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, the editors of APJJF contacted scholars across disciplines and geographical areas with a request to bring their expertise and insights to bear on the lessons of the war for our current age. We asked them to consider, in particular:

  • How does the war and/or the ending of the war help us to more deeply understand the world today?
  • What are the lessons of the war and/or ending of the war for the current era in which we live?
  • Are there ways in which we should remember or understand the war and/or ending of the war that have been under-examined or underappreciated to date?

With a great generosity of spirit in sharing their thoughts, many responded positively to our call. See all the essays below.
