Maren Ehlers
Maren Ehlers is an associate professor of history at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She received her Ph.D. in East Asian Studies from Princeton University. Her research focuses on the social history of early modern Japan with a particular interest in social marginality, the status order, and its implications for the political economy. She is the author of Give and Take: Poverty and the Status Order in Early Modern Japan (Harvard Asia Center, 2018).
