Shawn De Haven
Shawn De Haven is an instructor of Japanese culture, English, and humanities at International University of Health and Welfare in Narita, Japan. He received his M.A. in Comparative Cultures from International Christian University. His thesis addressed gender in the world of manzai. He received a B.A. in Japanese Language and Culture from California State University at Monterey Bay. His research interests include political satire, minority voices in comedy, utilizing comedy in language education, and communities of practice. When not trying his hand at rakugo or manzai, he is interviewing comedians in the field and publishing his findings on his website itsfunnyinjapanese.com.
