Kawamiya Nobuo, born in Hiroshima Prefecture in 1939, graduated from Faculty of Engineering, University of Tokyo in 1963. A Doctor of Engineering from Nagoya University, he is currently emeritus professor at Chukyo University (Nagoya) where he taught between 1986 and 2009. His major research fields include solid state physics and environmental and resource economics. Publications include: Hitsuzen no sentaku, chikyu kankyo to kogyo shakai (Inescapable choice: the earth's environment and industrial society), Kaimeisha, 1995, and Seicho teitai kara teijo keizai e (From growth stagnation to a stationary economy), Chukyo University, 2010.
