Joshua Baxter
Joshua Baxter is a PhD Candidate in the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Toronto. His dissertation will look at Yasukuni Shrine during the Meiji period and is tentatively titled “Capital-Nation-State: A Genealogy of Yasukuni Shrine.” Along with an interest in unfolding the relation between religion and economy, his research focusses on urban space, labour history and the historiography of modern Japan.
