Travis Seifman
Travis Seifman is Research Manager at the Art Research Center, Ritsumeikan University and a Research Affiliate at the Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. They hold a PhD in History from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an MA in Art History from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Their research examines intersections between Okinawan arts & culture and politics from the early modern period to today. Their recent and forthcoming publications include articles and book chapters on the Lūchū (Ryūkyū) Kingdom’s embassies to Edo; the restoration of Sui gusuku (Shuri castle); and contemporary Okinawan art.
