Robert J. Geller
Robert J. Geller received his education in geophysics at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech): BS 1973, MS, 1975, PhD 1977. After one year as a Research Fellow at Caltech, he became an Assistant Professor at Stanford University from 1978–84. He was then appointed as Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo in 1984, becoming the first tenured foreign faculty member in the history of the university. He was promoted to Professor in 1999, and became Professor Emeritus after his mandatory retirement (at age 65) in 2017.
