Alexander Rotard
Alexander Rotard is Lecturer in Japanese Studies in the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies at The University of Leeds. His research deals with Japanese imperial discourses and their role in 19th-20th century Japanese imperial expansion and contemporary Japan-Korea relations. He has published work on the role of The Japan Times propaganda in the 19th-20th century Anglo-Japanese rapprochement and The Japan Times’ instrumentality in the international justification of the colonisation of Korea. He has also published on settler identity and colonial violence in French colonial Algeria.
