Mary Alice Haddad is the John E. Andrus Professor of Government, Chair and Professor of East Asian Studies and Professor of Environmental Studies at Wesleyan University. Her research concerns civil society, environmental politics, and urban studies in East Asia. Her most recent books include Effective Advocacy: Lessons from East Asia's Environmentalists (2021) and Building Democracy in Japan (2012).
