Jürgen Paul Melzer
Jürgen Paul Melzer is a former paratrooper and jumpmaster. He received his Ph.D. in East Asian Studies from Princeton University and is presently Professor and Director of Japanese Studies at Yamanashi Gakuin University where he teaches Japanese history. He is the author of Wings for the Rising Sun: A Transnational History of Japanese Aviation (Harvard University Asia Center, 2020). His current work focuses on the history of military flight training during WWII that compares the recruiting, training programs, and preparedness of Japanese airmen with those of the Allied powers.
