The Asia-Pacific Journal: Japan Focus is a reader-supported journal. We invite your support at a time when the Asia-Pacific and our world is being turned upside down by the combination of US-China conflict in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic coinciding with economic, political, climate and nuclear crisis. We have raised more than $5,300 in our present drive. Thank you for your support. This drive will continue to August 1.

We have no corporate, foundation or university angel. Our ability to publish relies on our supporters. Your support allows us to provide the journal free to our 19,000 regular readers and thousands more around the world.

Naoko Wake is a historian of gender, sexuality, illness, and disability in the Pacific region, who focuses on Asian American history. She teaches at Michigan State University where anti-Asian expressions erupted after COVID-19 hit the state hard. Born in Japan and a dedicated community member of Asian Pacific Island Desi America (APIDA), she serves as the Director of Asian Pacific American Studies Program at MSU.
