The Asia-Pacific Journal: Japan Focus is a reader-supported journal. Rachel DiNitto is an associate professor of Japanese Literature at University of Oregon. She works on the literary and cultural studies of Japan's prewar (1910s-1930s), and postbubble eras (1990-2000s) including writers Uchida Hyakken and Kanehara Hitomi, manga artist Maruo Suehiro, and cult director Suzuki Seijun. She has written on the literary and cinematic responses to the 3/11 disaster and is finalizing a book manuscript titled, “Fukushima Fiction: Literature and Disaster in Japan.”
