Nishino Rumiko

Nishino Rumiko is a leading historian of the wartime comfort station system, and a core member of the Women’s Active Museum On War And Peace, the Violence Against Women in War Research Action Center (VAWW-RAC), and the Center for Research and Documentation on Japan’s War Responsibility (JWRC). Nishino also led efforts to organise the Women’s International War Crimes Tribunalon Japan’s Military Sexual Slaveryin Tokyo in 2000. She travels all over Asia and the Pacific to speak with survivors and their representatives, and has published more than two decades’ of scholarship on the basis of detailed historical research and in-country fieldwork.
