Open-Access Publication Procedures for Authors

As a pioneer of open-access, peer-reviewed scholarly publication, APJJF is committed to ensuring that all journal content remains open-access for both readers and authors. In short, no author will ever have to pay out of pocket to publish with APJJF.

As APJJF research content (“research article,” “research note”, and “analysis” categories) is published through Cambridge University Press, authors of these pieces will receive a publication agreement from Cambridge University Press upon approval of their manuscript. This agreement will include standard information regarding “Article Processing Charges.”  Please follow the steps outlined below to apply for a waiver to avoid paying these charges:

  1. When prompted to select a Creative Commons license for their manuscript, authors should select the option for Open-Access.
  2. If an author’s institution has an institutional open-access publication agreement with Cambridge Core (check eligibility here), they should select the appropriate agreement. In the majority of cases, authors are covered by a “Gold OA” agreement between Cambridge University Press and their institution.
  3. Authors whose institutions are not part of the Gold OA program or are not otherwise eligible for other open-access arrangements should apply for an “APC full waiver” when filling out their Author Information Form.

If any difficulties or questions arise regarding manuscripts or the open-access agreements and waivers, please contact the journal editors directly or at [email protected].
