Partha Chatterjee is a founding member of the Subaltern Studies editorial group and Director, Centre for the Study of Social Sciences, Calcutta, and Professor of Anthropology, Columbia University. A leading specialist on empire, nation, and social movements, his most recent book is The Politics of Government: Reflections on Popular Politics in Most of the World.
