Takeda Shinpei is a Japanese multi-media visual artist and filmmaker with a global reach. His works—exhibited around the world—treat a wide range of themes regarding memories and history in multi-media installations, sound interventions, documentary films, large-scale photography installations, and collaborative community projects in various public contexts. Hiroshima Nagasaki Download, one of Takeda’s film projects, documents a road trip from Canada to Mexico during which he interviews survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki living in North America. After the Fukushima nuclear disaster in 2011, Takeda has devoted himself to several powerful projects that seek to depict the intangibility of radiation and memories.
