John Lee Candelaria is an assistant professor in the International Peace and Coexistence Program at the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Hiroshima University. He holds an M.A. in History from the University of the Philippines Diliman (2014) and a Ph.D. from Hiroshima University (2022). His dissertation problematized state memorialization of interstate war in Southeast Asia through the cases of Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines. His research interests include Peace Studies, Heritage Studies, and International History and Politics, focusing on the Philippines and Southeast Asia.
