Louis Augustin-Jean is an Associate Professor at Taylor’s University (Malaysia) and University of Paris 13, Paris. An Economic Sociologist, he previously worked at Tsukuba University and was Research Fellow at the Hong Kong Polytechnic. He co-authored (with Anthea Cheung) The Economic Roots of the Umbrella Movement (Routledge, 2018). He co-edited (with Jean-Pierre Poulain) Risk and Food Safety in China and Japan (Routledge 2018) and (with Bjoern Alpermann) The Political Economy of Agro-food Markets in China (Palgrave Macmillan 2015). His article ‘Food safety, agro-industries, and China’s international trade: A standard-based approach’ (with Lei Xie), China Information, 2018 received the The Eduard B. Vermeer Prize for the Best Article in 2018.
