David McNeill

David McNeill is a professor at the Department of English Language, Communication and Cultures at Sacred Heart University in Tokyo. He was previously a correspondent for The Independent and The Economist newspapers and for The Chronicle of Higher Education. He is co-author of the book Strong in the Rain (with Lucy Birmingham) about the 2011 Tohoku disaster. He is an Asia-Pacific Journal editor.

Paul Jobin

Paul Jobin is Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Sociology, Academia Sinica, in Taiwan. Prior to that, Jobin was an Associate Professor at the University of Paris. His PhD dissertation on the Minamata disease and other industry-related diseases in Japan received the Shibusawa-Claudel Prize and was published by EHESS (Paris). Jobin has conducted research on nuclear plant workers in Japan and Taiwan, before and after the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Currently, his research focuses on the legacy of late industrialism and the geopolitics of the Anthropocene.
