Hiro Saito is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Singapore Management University. He is currently working on his second book manuscript, tentatively titled Rethinking Democracy After Fukushima: The Crisis of Post-WWII Regime in Japan and Beyond, which focuses on political struggles over the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Disaster and the U.S. military bases in Okinawa to examine tensions between expert rule and citizen participation in highly technical policy issues.
